The Heratsi team was recognized the winner of the Tournament of Young Chemists 2022. On May 8, four out of ten teams participating in the semi-finals took part in the final held at Ayb School.
The four pretendor teams were:
Almast (Vagharshapat),
Luys (Vanadzor),
Heratsi (Yerevan),
Phooton (Gyumri).
The laboratory safety, colonization of Mars, synthesis of raw materials meeting the requirements of green chemistry, and other interesting topics were subject of debates during the scientific battles. Though the Tournament's scientific debate was in a team format, it also allowed to distinguish the participants’ individual qualities.
Participants standing out with individual performances were:
Avet Baghdasaryan - Best Reviewer (Luys),
Davit Hakobyan – Best Opponent (Heratsi),
Vardan Asatryan – Best Speaker (Heratsi).
Generation change is one of the best traditions of the Tournament. This year’s selection of the jury was also significant. Among the evaluators were not only experienced specialists in the field but also winners of previous tournaments. Hamlet Khachatryan, Raffi Shahmuradyan, Gevorg Avanesyan, Zohrab Boyajyan, Tigran Tsaturyan participated in Ayb’s all natural science tournaments: Tournament of Young Chemists, Tournament of Chemistry Students, and Undergraduate Tournament of Natural Science. Each of them has their own success story in these tournaments. This year, they got a chance to be involved in the Tournament of Young Chemists as jury members.
The 12th Tournament of Young Chemists was held with the support of Ayb’s main partners, SolarOn and ProfHolod.
The Tournament of Young Chemists has been held at the initiative of the Ayb Educational Foundation since 2010. It unites all 9-12 graders around chemistry, becoming a platform for first-time inventors.
