This year, the All-Armenian Tournament of Young Chemists marks its 10th anniversary. As a result of heated chemical debates, three teams, namely, Heratsi and Oganesson of YSMU Heratsi High School and Adrenalin of Yerevan High School No. 65 named after Leo made it to the final a week ago. The online battle of the final was a real celebration of knowledge; for two successive years, the Heratsi team representing the YSMU Heratsi High School has been recognized as the winner.
Overall, 283 teams involving 1415 students and over 280 teachers have participated in the tournament to date. For three years in a row, the Ayb Educational Foundation has provided our children with the opportunity to represent our country in the international arena via participating in the All-Ukrainian Tournament of Young Chemists. Our children have returned with third-grade diplomas and individual certificates of honor from the last two tournaments.
“We are grateful for such an interesting and remarkable day. I believe our greatest achievement to date has been the community of people that are keen on and fond of chemistry and have come together around this tournament. It is owing to this community that we can hold the competition in line with the highest criteria these days, along with exploring new development perspectives,” said Sona Koshetsyan, executive director of the Ayb Educational Foundation, during the closing of the event.
The jury members of the tournament are the most famous chemistry specialists and have been supporting with utmost dedication in the organization of the event. According to Zhanna Sargsyan, a jury member, the 10th tournament has shown a new quality level: “I would like to share my joy over the growth we all witness today, and the achievements gained step by step throughout these ten years.”
The partners of the 10th All-Armenian Tournament of Young Chemists are AZAD Pharmaceuticals and ProfHolod, which are interested in the development of this scientific branch and involvement of young specialists in the sector. The number of the participants and supporters of this unique chemistry competition is growing daily, involving new students and schools, which, we believe, contributes to the development of chemistry as a subject and scientific mentality among our students. This year, the Tournament for Chemistry Students has been held for the first time, thus completing the link between education and science and revealing youth’s potential to employers.
For 10 successive years, this Aybian contest has enabled our children to perceive chemistry in a novel way and to be blown away by it, and we expect to ensure a worthy generation change in this sector.
The semifinals and final of the the 10th All-Armenian Tournament of Young Chemists were held online, given the state of emergency established in the country. By holding the team chemistry tournament online these days, the Ayb Educational Foundation continuously creates new opportunities for our children, prioritizing the children’s safety and health.
