Tsaghkunk Open School

Implementation of new educational technologies in a village
Program
Description

The Ayb Educational Foundation was engaged in the improvement and development of the educational programs of Tsaghkunk rural school (Gegharkunik region) between 2010-2015.

As part of the large-scale development programs initiated by the Dar Foundation in Tsaghkunk community, Ayb had the opportunity to spread its educational technologies in rural schools and carry out activities aimed at overall quality improvement.

The programs implemented at Tsaghkunk School represent a collective effort to create a rural school model, with the potential for future expansion to other rural communities.

In the rural school model, particular importance is attached to the development of agricultural component in the general education program, aligning with the requirements of the given agrarian community (bee keeping, crop production, cattle breeding, etc.). Thus, the establishment of an exemplary rural school in Tsaghkunk was based on both the integration of agricultural education and high-quality general educational programs.

Cooperating with the Dar Foundation, Ayb became part of the community-building projects implemented in Tsaghkunk village, aimed at the preservation of national values and their development.

After Tsaghkunk School underwent refurbishment in 2007 through the Dar Foundation's efforts, it became necessary to also revise the school's educational programs. This was to ensure that children can have the opportunity to engage in activities linking them with their roots and preserve the Armenian spirit and mentality in a harmonious and native environment.

The role of the Ayb Educational Foundation in the development of Tsaghkunk School was:

  • revision and development of educational programs;
  • training of teachers;
  • development of teacher and student assessment and motivation systems.

Tsaghkunk School was engaged in all programs of the Ayb system—events, teacher conferences, exchange programs, social and cultural activities, etc. Project-based teams were formed at Tsaghkunk School, working alongside the school principal in various programs aimed at improving the educational content and empowering the Tsaghkunk community.
