The Church of the Holy Translators is one of the components of the Ayb Learning Hub which comes to strengthen the existential relationship between knowledge and moral values and the idea of the Holy Translators' movement. In the 5th century, thanks to the Holy Translators, St. Mesrop, St. Sahak and their disciples, the Armenian alphabet, literature, music and school were created. The alliance of these geniuses turned into a movement that sustained the Armenian nation through the centuries, ensuring its cultural continuity and integrity to this day.
Ayb is a unique continuation of the Holy Translators' movement.
A testimony to the Armenian spiritual legacy, the church aims to promote a moral generation and to secure the spiritual future of the Armenian people. For centuries, the Armenian Church and School worked hand in hand, ensuring the spiritual and national unity of Armenians and cultivating creative harmony between knowledge and values. The Ayb Learning Hub strives to become an environment linking the past with the future, where history is a spiritual presence and the future is a creative aspiration.
The church (architect: Erik Ohanyan) in the Ayb campus consists of stone books, each of them signifying one of the Holy Translators. The construction symbolizes the individuals whose significant written legacy is the basis of Armenian national and spiritual identity.
A theological library will be housed in the basement of the church. Thus, the church will cultivate soul and mind in a more integral way: along with prayers and liturgical services, it will also promote study and exploration of the spiritual writings and thoughts.
The project has brought together people from around the world, individuals who recognize the importance of education and are willing to invest in it. Today, through the experience, efforts and investments of like-minded people, Ayb is building the architecture of Armenia’s new education with systemic solutions designed for today’s world.
