National Song and Dance Academy

Popularizing national songs and dances
Program
Description

With the aim of bringing national song and dance back to our everyday lives and encouraging the development of the national identity, the Ayb Educational Foundation and founder and artistic director of Karin Traditional Song and Dance Ensemble Gagik Ginosyan jointly founded the National Song and Dance Academy Educational-Cultural Foundation in September 2015. The mission of the Academy is to research, teach, and popularize national songs and dances, making them a living part of Armenian culture, as well as to raise the sense of national identity.

To bring our children up as true Armenians, helping them realize their national identity, is one of the crucial factors in the mission of molding a generation.

This idea has been implemented and tested in Ayb School from the very first day through national dance classes. Best teachers of the Karin Traditional Song and Dance Ensemble teach in Ayb School.

The Academy has four areas of activity:

  • educational,
  • military dance,
  • cultural,
  • scholarly.

Each has its sub-areas with a number of specific activities to be carried out, including but not limited to the coordination of cultural disciplines at school, the training and re-training of teachers and lecturers, the integration of military dances into the Army as part of physical and spiritual education, and the scholarly substantiation of dance.

During October 2015 to October 2018, the National Song and Dance Academy trained 234 teachers of 5-7 grades in four areas: educational, military dance, cultural and scholarly. The academy also introduced the military dance to the Armenian army.

The Academy has already 32 donors.
