Meghu

Armenian for Everyone

Meghu is the largest mass competition of the Armenian language in the whole Armenian-speaking world. Consolidating its years of successful experience, the Ayb Educational Foundation makes quality Armenian-language content available to students of the RA, Artsakh, and the Diaspora.

Mastering the native language and developing general knowledge and critical thinking shape a person's scope and abilities to perceive the world. Together with its modern tools of online testing, the Meghu contest opens up a unique platform for acquiring knowledge. By cultivating love and interest in the Armenian language and logic, the contest combines general patterns of intellectual development with educational goals of Armenian studies.

With this mission, Meghu has been organized in Armenia and Artsakh since 2014, and, since 2019, for 3-12-grade students from the Diaspora. In 2021, for the first time, adults also participated in Meghu.

The logical problems in Meghu help to:

  • develop the ability of thinking in Armenian from an early age,
  • solve logical problems via interactive games,
  • develop decision-making and time management skills,
  • improve memory and attention distribution,
  • master online tools and improve computer literacy,
  • set higher standards and exceed them,
  • master the culture of independent thinking and self-evaluation.

The contest is held in an online platform and in a comfortable environment for the participants, giving the opportunity to take part in this educational movement regardless of location.

Until 2021, Meghu was held by individual registration of each participant on the platform. Starting from 2022, the competition has been held in a new format, providing more opportunities for more students. Considering the significant role that schools play in supporting children, the school subscription model has been introduced. By making a one-time payment schools make both the contest and other educational materials and resources available to all their 3-12 graders.

What the new model offers

To Learners:

  • Lower participation cost per person
  • Registration without a payment receipt requirement
  • Access to sample tests before the competition and opportunity to participate in supporting webinars
  • Run tests on a technically improved platform

To Schools:

  • Opportunity to participate in the contest in a package format
  • Free access to educational, technical training and learning materials for teachers and school staff
  • Connecting the school to the large Ayb Community where modern skills are built and developed

Individual registration is also available for students from schools not included in our list of subscribers.

The Meghu–Armenian for Everyone contest is a unique massive initiative throughout the world aimed at preserving and spreading the Armenian language and instilling love for it among children. Since its inception, we have had 227 236 participant students from the RA and Artsakh and more than 1000 participants from the Diaspora.

Through a memorandum signed in September 2023, the Ayb Educational Foundation transferred the rights for holding the competition to its partner, the Contests' Lab Educational NGO.
