Araratian Baccalaureate

Our visiting card in international educational institutions

Araratian Baccalaureate (AB) is an internationally competitive educational program developed by the Ayb Educational Foundation. Until 2018, the Foundation and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia, in cooperation with leading educational institutions in the field of education, were involved in its introduction.

In December 2016, the RA Government made a decision to allow the introduction of the Araratian Baccalaureate program in RA state general educational institutions and recognized the AB exam results equivalent to unified exams and eligible for applying to Armenian higher educational institutions. The program's international partners are Cambridge University Press & Assessment and the UCL Institute of Education.

We strive to:

  • create an internationally competitive Armenian-language school program for local community and the Armenian Diaspora;
  • shape a culture of learning excellence and support the development of Armenian education;
  • educate citizens armed with skills and knowledge aligned with the demands of the 21st century;
  • educate individuals to have an awareness of their roots worldwide and be prepared to assume responsibility for both their personal journeys and the future of their nation.

There are standard and extended AB exams for the AB students. The exams are assessed by the Cambridge Assessment International Education. As a result of the exams, students receive AB exam certificates which are co-certified by Cambridge and Ayb Educational Foundation.

Cambridge University Press and Assessment has examined AB curriculum, affirming their comparability to leading international educational programs.

At the end of their studies, students receive a state certificate of secondary education (Attestat), the AB diploma (internationally recognized exam certificate) and a school graduation certificate.

AB’s Advantages

AybPro (Project-based learning) is a requirement for obtaining diplomas at all academic levels for every student. Projects are selected and designed by students and are required to have social impact. Projects are a well-structured interdisciplinary activity carried out by students in teams with the guidance of a mentor. PBL assesses communication and problem-solving skills through a presentation, self-reflection and teamwork.

Identity and values course is a critical analysis of worldview questions. The main topics include personal and collective identity, epistemology and axiology. The objective of the course is to develop learners’ cognitive and self-analytical skills, and to contribute to their moral growth in the context of national and universal values.

Community service is unconditional and uncompensated activity undertaken by students with the goal of nurturing caring, self-motivated, and change bringing generations.

Local Recognition

According to the RA Government's decree No. 597-N of April 26, 2012, the admission examinations of the RA state and private higher educational institutions are the centralized exams, unified exams as well as the Araratian Baccalaureate exams. The American University of Armenia provides credits for AB subjects.

The French University in Armenia recognizes the AB program and admits AB Honors diploma graduates without additional examinations.
