The Araratian Baccalaureate (AB) is an academically rigorous Armenian-language educational program developed by the Ayb Educational Foundation in Armenia.
The Ayb Educational Foundation created the AB in collaboration with Cambridge Assessment International Education and Institute of Education at University College London (UCL).
The AB has achieved international recognition not by joining any system (such as The International Baccalaureate) but through recognition by reputable organizations on the basis of equality.
In 2016, the AB was recognized by Cambridge Assessment International Education and UK National Recognition Information Center (NARIC) to be equivalent to the GCE A Levels and US Advanced Placement qualifications.
The AB is a program of excellence: it goes beyond compulsory school curriculum and intersects with university programs, giving the graduate a competitive advantage when entering university.
As an independent educational program, the AB gained international recognition in just 18 months based on the content created by Ayb in 2006.
The AB’s recognition is for an indefinite period. An AB program graduate can choose almost any university in any country for further education.
Each AB high school student has their own individual curriculum consisting of compulsory and elective, standard and advanced subjects.
The AB exams are the first and only Armenian-language exams in the world that meet international standards and requirements.
The program provides the opportunity to enter the world's top universities and the best universities in Armenia by passing only the final BA exams without taking additional exams.
Admissions to RA state universities are conducted according to places allocated for the AB (until the transition to new state examination system standards and synchronization of processes).
The AB provides students with career orientation and university admission guidance, which is unique in our educational system.
Project-based learning is one of the most distinguished AB features. It fosters important skills, helps students with their future career choices and makes them more competitive when entering universities.
The Identity and Values subject, as a value-based component, was fully introduced in the AB 2023 curriculum.
The AB’s advanced art course and its final exam provide access to top art universities around the world.
The Ayb Educational Foundation ensures the continuous education of the professional team that trains teachers, guided by best practice and modern requirements.
